After visiting Singapore for the third time (first one was a brief office trip and other two being family vacations. However, there are several places where you can spend a great time with your family without spending on entry tickets etc. These places will surely save you some bucks for exploring other costlier attractions. 

In this blog I have listed down my favorite 10 free Activities/ Places which can be explored & enjoyed by a family together.  

1.Enjoy your evening at Merlion Park 

Pleasant, happening and lively. An evening walk around the Merlion park, in Singapore’s central business district is a real joy and feast to the eyes. Click memorable pictures with the iconic mascot of Singapore, the Merlion. Mythicalcreaturewith lion’s head and the body of a fish. Or enjoy a drink at one of the many café’s situated by the bay, while admiring the iconic Marina Bay Sands and Singapore’s glistening skyline at the backdrop.  

2.Explore the Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands 

Marina bay is one of the most famous landmarks in Singapore and features in almost all the Souvenirs. Apart from being an iconic hotel with a ship like structure supported by 3 pillars, it has much more to explore. The Shoppes mall houses some of the best international luxury brands. It’s a great place to hangout even if you are not planning to shop. The digital canvas is an intriguing place to engage children while you can relax those flexing muscles. 3.Witness the breathtaking sunset from Marina Bay or Helix bridge 

You can enjoy a mesmerizing sunset view from either sit out area at The Shoppes or from the walkway along the Bay area. Helix bridge which is connected with the Marina Bay Sands complex is a great place to witness Sunset. The breathtaking sunset view against the backdrop of sky-high buildings and water makes it a perfect spot to click some great pictures.

4. Take a stroll at Gardens by the Bay 

Gardens by the Bay is one of the most marvelous creations made by man. Spanning over many hectares, the gardens not only provide clean & green breathing space but is also a piece of art. Although admission into the 2 conservatories and OCBC Skywalk on the super groove trees requires entry tickets, but you can explore rest of the garden area without any cost. The Garden Rhapsody is performed at 7.45 p.m. and 8.45 p.m. everyday. Show lasts for 15 minutes

5.Discover the magic of free Light & Water show “The Spectra”

Indulge yourself into an enthralling experience of outdoor light and water show at event plaza. This 15-minute extravaganza includes a perfect synchronization of dancing water fountains, colorful 3D Imaging, laser lights and mist effect. The Spectra can be witnessed from Merlion park or the sit out area of The Shoppe by Marina Bay Sands. 

6.Walk around State of fun (Sentosa Island) 

True to its name, Sentosa is truly the State of Fun. Best part is you don’t need an entry ticket to walk around and explore this fun Zone. Sentosa island is connected with the mainland via road, pedestrian boardwalk, cable car and mono rail. At the Island there are many spots like the Sentosa square, Merlion park, beaches etc. where you can click some memorable pictures. You can hop on to mono rail to travel within Sentosa Island as its free.

7. Laze around one of the beaches at Sentosa Island

If you don’t feel like walking anymore and want to sit back, then one of the 3 beaches at Sentosa Island is the perfect hideout, where you can spend some quality time with family. Although these are not the natural beaches, but they are equally inviting with soft clean sand and Azure water. Amongst the 3 beaches, Silso beach is the most popular one. But Palawan and Tanjung are also worth visiting.  

8. Unwind at Clark Quay

Clark Quay is the historical riverside quay area popular for its nightlife. Located on the edge of the central business district, Clark Quay is home to a shopping complex, packed with restaurants, bars, nightclubs. For adventure seekers, there is also a reverse bungee jump (slingshot). Surely a good place to hang out and unwind yourself while enjoying the scenic vistas of colorful rowhouses lined along the Singapore river. 

9. Immerse in nature at Singapore Botanic garden 

Spending time amidst nature is one of the best family activities and all the more if it comes free of cost. Singapore Botanic garden a 160-year-old tropical garden located at the fringe of Singapore’s Orchard Road shopping district. It’s the only tropical garden, to be acknowledged as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. 

The Singapore Botanic Gardens are open daily from 5 a.m. to midnight. However, National Orchid Garden – the park’s crown jewel is open from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. and charges SG$5 for adult admission.

10.Chill out at East coast park 

Enjoy a laid-back outing or fun picnic at Singapore’s popular urban gateway which has some or the other activity for everyone. Be it sports, recreation, dining or just relaxing. East Coast Park has a total land size of 185 hectares, and scenic coastline stretches over 15 km.

Apart from these, there are many other activities and places which can be explored without spending any money on entrance. So, you can choose and customize a perfect holiday that works well within your budget according to the number of days available.
