Luxury getaway from Bangalore
Today I am taking you to a resort, perfect for a peaceful luxury getaway from Bangalore. The name of this property is Malabar Ocean front resort & spa. We stayed at this splendid Ocean front resort for 3 days and loved the overall experience. Let me share the details of this beautiful property with you, without making you wait any further.
Malabar Ocean front resort & spa, Nileshwar – Love at first sight
Honestly, it was love at first sight! Even before we landed at the property, just scrolling through the pictures in their website made me fall in love with this place. The idea of exploring an offbeat and unknown destination was tempting. I knew Bekal (Bekal fort is the shooting location for the famous song “Tu hi re” from the iconic Movie “Bombay”), but Nileshwar was new to me. So, we decided to visit the resort and explore the area around.
As we entered the resort, the palm-fringed lanes, the soothing fountains, the beautiful landscape surrounded by waterbodies, and the sea breeze welcomed us. Indeed, it felt like we are in a tropical paradise.
Bali vibes in Kerala: The Tropical Paradise
With a thatched roof, wooden walls and an open courtyard, the reception area was brimming with traditional Kerala vibes. The Gigantic brass lamp and the floral rangoli complimented the overall tropical aura. The staff at the resort greeted us pleasantly, and after the check-in formalities, we walked through the stone path lined with hibiscus and other flowering plants leading us to our room. On our way, we also came across the palm-fringed private beach area overlooking the ocean. It was hard to resist not running into the tempting beach immediately.
Spacious Rooms with Ocean view
The rooms at the resort are a cluster of double-storey cottage consisting of one room on the ground floor and one on the first floor, making the area look like row houses/ villas. Our room was on the first floor. It was spacious and aesthetically designed with solid wood furniture. However, the best part of the room was the sit-out area overlooking the ocean and palm trees. The sit-out with a sea view was the best part of the room. We loved spending a peaceful time on the balcony.
Coffee shop
The coffee shop at the resort serves buffet breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The spread of dishes was good and consisted of traditional Kerala dishes along other continental cuisine. They also had live counters preparing mouth-watering dishes. I loved the appams and dosa counters.
Amenities
The Malabar Oceanfront resort and spa offers all the amenities in the room, including toiletries, towels, hair drier, tea/coffee maker, mini bar, candies and cookies, television etc.
The other amenities that the resort offers include
1. A swimming pool (I felt it was a heated pool as the water was warm, but I am not sure).
2. kid’s play area with rides
3. indoor games
4. Spa that offers traditional Kerala massages,
5. A coffee shop
6. Direct access to the beach
7. Area near the beach suitable for functions like birthday celebration, photoshoots, wedding etc.
8. Large parking area.
Hospitality
The staff at the resort was friendly and helpful. I loved that they greeted us with pleasant smiles and were ready to help us with anything we asked. A good service enhances the overall experience.
Where is Malabar Ocean front resort & spa located?
The resort is in Nileshwar,one of the towns in Kasaragod district, Kerala. It is around 25 km from Bekal and 56 km from Kannur. You can plan to visit these two destinations while visiting the resort.
From Bangalore, it is 380 km, and it took us 10-11 hours to drive.
Pricing
The pricing varies depending on the room categories and the chosen package. It usually ranges between INR 5500 to INR 10000. Considering the overall package and the amenities, I think the room prices are decent. Its a value for money deal.
Places to visit around Nileshwar
Nileshwar is a quaint beach town with laid-back vibes. The beaches are clean and not crowded at all. The major attraction near Nileshwar is the Bekal fort that is just 25 km away.
Other places are Shri Gopalakrishna Temple, Azhithala beach, and thaikadapuram beach.
You can also plan a visit to Kannur, which is near Nileshwar.
Over-all experience
We stayed at the resort for 3 days and 2 nights. My parents and 7-year-old son accompanied me on this trip. We spent a good amount of time at the private beach area with hammock,swings, and palm trees. It is a perfect place to unwind and relax with a book in your hand and a cup of tea (by the way, they serve tea and snacks at the beach every evening). The sunset at the resort is just breathtaking should not be missed. My son loved playing in the park and making a sandcastle at the beach. We also enjoyed our time at the swimming pool.
Overall, we loved the warm and friendly atmosphere making it a perfect getaway for the whole family. We all returned home with beautiful memories to cherish and a hope to visit this beautiful resort again.
