I woke up to the chirping of what sounded like thousands of crickets.Half sleepy, I opened the door of the sit-out area, overlooking the lush green coffee plantation and breathtaking mountains.A dash of cold air and the view of misty mountains welcomed me!
Morning scene from Dhanagiri homestay, a beautiful homestay we recently stayed at during our trip to Wayanad. If you are planning a trip to Wayanad, Dhanagiri Homestay is a perfect place to stay close to nature.
We visited Wayanad in the 1st week of August, although it was raining and there was an orange alert in the area, traveling during the off-season has its charm. Isn’t it? The entire area was green, and beautiful due to the rains.

A Beautiful homestay in Vythiri, Wayanad
Situated at the foothills of Dhanagiri hills, nestled amidst 30 acres of lush green coffee plantation, is the beautiful boutique stay. The property has 2 sections, the first one is the 3-bedroom house which can cater to a group of 8 to 10 people. In addition, there are 4 single bedroom cottages on the hilltop surrounded by the coffee plantation. The roads to the property are pretty good and you can easily reach here with the help of GPS.
Location
Apart from the beautiful stay and overall experience, the location is another plus point about this place. Its located in Vythiri, very close to the latest zipline attraction, tea estates, and recently opened tribal village. You can visit the main attractions in Vythiri from here easily and quickly.
Dhanagiri homestay – The cottage with a view
We stayed at one of the cottages. A narrow, but well-maneuvered, elevated path through the plantation took us to our cottage. Reaching your cottage itself is a small hike. Our room was spacious and well maintained. It was bright and airy, with huge windows on 2 sides and a large sit-out area in the front. The cottages are elevated from the ground offering an enchanting view from the balcony. You could sit there for hours basking in the glory of nature. It’s a perfect place to enjoy the peaceful surroundings and connect with nature
Amenities at Dhanagiri Homestay
Although it’s not a luxury property, this boutique homestay offers all the essential amenities to make you feel at home and enjoy a pleasant stay. The rooms come with television, WIFI connection, toiletries, towels, and an electric kettle.
Other facilities at the homestay include, a spacious dining room overlooking the plantation, car parking, a small indoor play area, an Evening bonfire (we could not experience this due to heavy rains), and coffee plantation hiking.
Connect with Nature: Surrounded by greenery from all around, this property gives you an opportunity to connect with nature and enjoy its beauty in every possible way. Just sitting and observing the colourful flowers , birds , trees and fruits around is a full-filling and an enriching experience.

The staff is friendly and hospitable.They helped us by organising a tour of the nearby places, which was a memorable experience.
Price
The homestay is reasonably priced. The cottage with a single room is priced at INR 4500 per night with breakfast. The 3bhk room is priced at INR 12500 per night for 8-10 pax with breakfast.(Please check the latest and updated price with the homestay directly)
Home away from home: Overall experience
We spent 2-day peaceful days at the Dhanagiri homestay. Since it was raining heavily, we could not explore the outdoors much, but it allowed us to observe and enjoy the real beauty of the place. Observing different birds from the dining room was one of my favorite activities. Although it was raining so much, the best part was we never found any leeches around. We had a pleasant stay in a warm and homely environment. We loved our stay at Dhanagiri and looking forward to visiting back again.
Dhanagiri homestay is a perfect getaway from city life. During this season, especially couples can enjoy a romantic getaway here. If you are a solo traveler looking for solitude, you must visit this homestay.
