Social distancing, Social isolation, Self-Quarantine are the only words one can hear these days. Everything around us is closed and locked down. We have much more time in hand than ever before.

How about using some of this time, tucked in your blanket watching some of the most mysterious and thriller shows on Netflix. Trust me nothing can beat the blues better than an intriguing series along with popcorn for company.

If the idea sounds interesting and rings a bell, check out the list of some of my favorite thriller and mystery series on Netflix. Watch these nail-biting thriller shows and add that spice to your life which we need the most right now. This will interest you only if your preferred Genre is Phycological thrillers and mystery. If not, you may find some of these shows dark and disturbing. I have listed these shows in order of their IMBd ratings. Hope you will enjoy watching them.

Sherlock

4 Seasons, IMDb: 9.1/10

When it comes to mystery, Sherlock is the first name that comes to everybody’s mind. And what could be better than watching Sherlock Holmes in action. The British series stars Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman in the lead characters. This series is based on the classic Sherlock Holmes stories written by Author Conan Doyle in as early as 1886.  The series is fast-paced packed with mystery, suspense, wit and tragedy, to keep you entertained.

Black mirror

 5 Seasons, IMDb: 8.8/10

Highly futuristic, but something you wouldn’t have seen before. Black Mirror is a series of stories, showcasing the consequence of new technology on the minds, behavior, and lives of people. This British science fiction created by Charlie Brooker not only keeps you glued to the show but also forces you to think about how technology can impact our lives in the future.

Dark

2 seasons, IMDb: 8.7/10

True to its name, this German Science fiction Series is dark, sometimes depressing too, but the quest to know “what happens next” keeps you going. Series is based around the central idea of time travel, which is interesting and informative (it made me google some of the terms they used in the show) but at the same time too complex to understand. So, if you are not paying complete attention, you may miss out on important links.

The show centers around four families and two missing children in a small German town. The story includes supernatural elements that tie back to the same town in 1986. “Dark” represents the first German original series produced for Netflix.

The Mind hunter

2 Seasons, IMDb: 8.6/10

A story of how 2 FBI against working as trainers try to understand the criminal behavior & phycology by interviewing the most notorious and brutal serial killers. Mindhunter is an American crime thriller series created by Joe Penhall, based on the true-crime book Mindhunter: Inside the FBI’s Elite Serial Crime Unit written by John E. Douglas and Mark Olshaker. The series gives interesting insights into criminal thinking and how FBI agents infer each action and clue.

Money Heist

3 Seasons, IMDb: 8.5/10

Money Heist (Spanish: La casa de Papel, transl. The House of Paper)is my personal favorite in this entire list. A series that will make you glued to your seats, bite your nails. It’s just mind-blowing. Incredible plot and brilliant execution. This Spanish crime series created by Alex Pina ensures that there is no dull moment throughout the show. The central character, the mastermind of the series “The professor” will surely take your heart away. I am eagerly waiting for Season 4, which is going to be released in the first week of April

Unbelievable

1 Season, IMBd: 8.5/10

An American crime series about the number of rape cases taking place in Washington and Colorado. How two female detectives follow the evidence, connect every clue from one another and reveal the truth. Based on a true story, this 1 season series is short, crisp but heart wrenching at the same time.

People Vs O.J Simpson: The American crime story, Season 1

 1 Season, IMDb: 8.4

People Vs. OJ Simpson is the first season of the FX true crime television series the American Crime story ( Second Season is Gianni Versace) this series is based on a true story and showcases the series of events related to O.J. Simpson murder case and is based on Jeffrey Toobin book The Run of His Life: The People v. O. J. Simpson (1997). Again the series is created in a way that keeps you glued till the end.

Ozark

Seasons: 2 IMDb: 8.3/10

American crime drama created by Bill Dubuque and Mark Williams is a story of a financial planner who is on the move after a money-laundering scheme goes wrong. This forces him to pay off a substantial debt to a Mexican drug lord and relocate his family to a place called Ozarks. The series stars Jason Bateman in the lead role.

Bates motel

5 Seasons    IMDb: 8.2/10

American psychological series, Bates Motel, is surely not for faint-hearted. Bates motel is believed to be a prequel to Alfred Hitchcock’s 1960 film Psycho. The series depicts the relationship between Norma Bates and her mentally ill son Norman Bates. They move to the new town and purchase a Motel to start a new life. What comes next will keep you wondering, even feeling sick at certain moments!!! But I am not giving away much. watch for yourself!

The Sinner

2 seasons, IMDb: 8/10

The Sinner is a dark crime series. Both seasons of this series showcase 2 different cases involving supernatural power, cults and gruesome pasts leading to the crime. The lead character in the series detective Harry Ambrose gets to the depth of these cases and solve them.

 2 Seasons, IMDb: 7.8/10

An intriguing storyline!  Series is about a delusional serial killer, who works as a book store manager in New York and falls in love with one of the customers. Quickly he develops an extreme obsession for her which results in multiple murders. The second season of the series is also based on similar lines with an unexpected ending. Eagerly waiting for season 3 which is supposed to be released next year.

The Stranger

1 Season, IMDb: 7.4/10

British drama series based on the novel of the same name by Harlan Coben. The best part about this series is that it ends in just one season, so you don’t have to wait for next year and invest too much of your time. The series showcases how the perfect family life of a man changes when a stranger approaches him and reveals a secret about his wife.

Riverdale

3 Seasons, IMDb: 7.1/10

A teen drama based on the characters from Archie comics, but it is a mystery and thriller series. It’s a story about a small town and life of teens in the town amid murders and other suspicious activities. Although the first season is interesting and keeps you intrigued. But later it kind of gets monotonous. Do watch and decide for yourself

High seas

Seasons: 2 , IMDb: 6.8/10

Most different from any other show mentioned in this list, High seas is a Spanish mystery period drama, named as Alta mar in Spanish. Mysterious deaths on a luxurious ship traveling from Spain to Rio de Janeiro in the 1940s uncover secrets surrounding two sisters who are traveling together. I loved the display of elegance and no use of cuss words or foul language which a refreshing change is.

You Cannot Hide

1 Season, IMBd: 6.4/10

Another short series where the story ends just in one season, you cannot Hide (Spanish: No te Puedes seconder) is a Spanish-language television series. The story revolves around a mother and her daughter, who have fled from their country to a new country with a new identity. The series of events starts when the daughter is kidnapped, and the mother goes on a mission to find her.
