I love dressing up, and shopping is my hobby ( For most of us it acts as a stressbuster too). Now that I am a professional content creator, creating a fresh look each time becomes a professional requirement too.
Do you follow the latest fashion trends?
Are you one of those, who like to stay up-to-date with the latest fashion trends and discard clothes that are no more in trend? If yes, you contribute to higher carbon footprints by embracing fast fashion.
A few years back, I read a startling article about how fast fashion contributes substantially to greenhouse gas emissions throughout its lifecycle, from production to disposal. The carbon footprint of a garment includes emissions from raw material extraction, manufacturing, transportation, retail operations, and end-of-life disposal.
Impact of fast fashion on the environment beyond carbon footprints
The environmental consequences of fast fashion extend beyond carbon emissions:
⢠Water Usage: Cotton requires vast amounts of water from cultivation to dyeing, leading to water scarcity and pollution of waterways. Did you know it requires 10,000 litres of water to produce a single pair of Jeans? Shocking isnât it?
⢠Chemical Pollution: The textile industries release toxic chemicals into the air, water, and soil during manufacturing and dyeing processes.
⢠Waste Generation: Fast fashion encourages a throwaway culture, where clothes are discarded after a few uses. This leads to an enormous textile waste, which ends up in landfills or incinerators.
Sustainable Alternatives and Solutions â Slow & Sustainable fashion
After being aware of the harmful impact of reckless buying and throwing of clothes just because they are not in trend any more, I gradually started shifting towards sustainable clothing.
I looked for sustainable brands, handlooms and other eco-friendly options. Every time I come across one, I share the review of their products on my website to help you make better choices too. In my previous blogs, I have reviewed a few brands that promote sustainable fashion and support local artisans.
In this blog, I am back with a review of another brand promoting sustainable fashion. This brand offers Western clothing for all occasions. Before we go further I share what I shopped for and my experience, let me tell you more about this brand.
Virgio: The Only good fashion company
Virgio is a Bangalore-based, Indian startup committed to sustainability at every stage of the garment lifecycle. A brand thatâs consciously trying to reduce its carbon footprints by using Earth-friendly fabrics such as cotton, Modal, Viscose & Lyocell to rescue fabrics like deadstock.
They also promote Circular Fashion (which includes recycling, upcycling, and reuse to minimize waste and reduce resource consumption). Their website mentions interesting ways & initiatives taken to promote earth-friendly clothing.
I liked how their website shares sustainability initiatives, their current carbon footprints and goals for the future, it clearly shows how aware & dedicated the brand is towards the cause.

Virgio: Product Range and Design
From casual dresses to office wear and even evening outfits, Virgio’s product range caters to various styles and occasions. Most of their garment reflects clean designs and thoughtful details. Whether you’re looking for a versatile blouse, a stylish trouser or a statement dress, their collection seamlessly blends sustainability with sophistication. I found their collection very wearable (especially the dresses).

Quality and Durability
According to my experience with Virgio ( I purchased 2 of their dresses), the quality of their product is good. The material feels soft and breathable yet durable. I ordered 2 dresses, both fitted me well so they are true to the size.
Experience of purchasing from Virgio
While scrolling through their website, 2 things I noticed ( apart from the emphasis on sustainable initiatives).Â
1. The garment detailing shared is exceptional. Along with the fabric details, it also shows dye details. How stretchable, soft and opaque the garment is. Garment care part and carbon footprints too. I donât remember seeing so much information on any other website.
2. I liked the way sizes are mentioned on the website. It’s cute
XS -Extra stellar
S â Stellar
M- Magical
L â lively
XL â Extra Lively
They have sizes till XL only.
Delivery: The delivery process was fast and smooth. I received the dresses within 2-3 days (Since I live in Bangalore). They do have a cash-on-delivery option too.
Packaging: I love it when brands go the extra mile to create environment-friendly packaging. Virgioâs packaging is made of cornstarch and is 100% biodegradable.

Virgin dress: Quality & overall experience
1. The First dress I chose was for casual/ day outings. Itâs a polka print dress made from Pure viscose. As mentioned on their website, it’s derived from natural cellulose fibres. The material is light, breathable and very comfortable. I liked the fit and fall of the dress. Itâs perfect for day outings, even if you wear it the entire day it doesnât feel uncomfortable. Checkout the link here.

2. I chose the second dress keeping special occasions and parties in mind. Itâs a knotted midi dress called Hyacinth. Itâs a pretty blue satin dress crafted from recycled plastic waste. The material is smooth, soft and sustainable ( I am happy itâs made from recycled waste). The dress looks very elegant and fits me perfectly ( I was a bit doubtful, given itâs a fitted dress but I loved the fit). Checkout the Link here.

Final Thoughts
Overall, Virgio sets a high standard for sustainable clothing brands. Their thoughtful approach to design and commitment to sustainability makes them a standout choice for anyone looking to align their wardrobe with their values.

If you like stylish, sustainable clothing that makes a difference, I highly recommend exploring Virgio. Your wardrobe â and the planet â will thank you for it.
