Recently, we stayed at one of the most beautiful and dreamy holiday villas located on one of the most tranquil islands in Goa. In this blog, I am sharing my honest review and our stay experience at Mae Terra Villa.

Mae Terra is a villa straight out of the movies. This picture-perfect, restored Portuguese Villa offers a tranquil atmosphere that switches your thinking mode off the moment you step here. The property can comfortably accommodate 10-15 guests.

Mae Terra Jade Hospitainment: Location
Mae Terra is a unique luxury pool villa secluded from the hustle-bustle and party scenes of Goa. The property is on Chorao Island, a lesser-known and less-explored island in Goa. Home to Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary, Chorao island is the largest of 17 islands of Goa and offers perfect Goan countryside vibes.
It is 37 km from Dabolim airport and takes around 1.30 hours to reach.
How to reach Mae Terra Villa
You can hire a cab at the airport. Since the island is cut off from the mainland, you need to take a ferry from Ribandar. Free ferries are available every few minutes. The best part is you don’t need to get out of the car as the ferries transport cars and two-wheelers too. It takes 15-20 minutes to reach the island from the ferry. The property is 4 km further inside. The villa management helped us with the cab vendor’s contact. Charges were approximately INR 1700 on one side.

Special Activities/ Experiences at Mae Terra by Jade Hospitainment at Chorao Island
They also organize special activities on request to experience the island and its uniqueness. However, these activities are additionally charged. Some of them are

6. Private Yacht tour
We could only experience the Mangrove boating during the sunset due to the shortage of time. I suggest spending at least 2 days in Chorao island to enjoy the best experiences.
Our Experience at Mae Terra: Home away from home
“Feels like we are leaving our home”! These were my sons’ words while leaving Mae Terra. The property staff came to see us off at the gate.
Honestly, I consider it a big compliment, because children are real critics(sometimes brutal in their feedback :)). Generally, I am scared to ask him how he liked a property in front of the owners or hosts. But he was thrilled with our stay at Mae Terra, especially the bunker bed in the bedroom and the infinity pool.
A confession
When I saw villa pictures, I loved the idea of exploring the peaceful side of Goa, same time, I was apprehensive that just 3 of us in a huge villa, would be scary. But the moment we stepped into the property, we only felt the cozy and comfortable vibes. The staff at the villa were always present in case we needed anything. Roopal, our host, was helpful and suggested the activities around the island.
Reading & Chilling during the day
During the day, we spent our time reading and sitting by the pool as it was sunny and hot outside. We relished on homemade yet delicious lunch. In the evening, we drove around the beautiful island and enjoyed the mangrove boat tour.
Night at the Villa : Pool time, Barbecue & Movie under the stars
After returning to the villa, it was pool time. The best part about a private pool is no time limit. The pool looked spectacular during the night with all the lights around. The water was warm and comforting. We spent around two and a half hours in the pool while enjoying a freshly grilled barbecue and watching a movie under the stars. Next morning, I got up on time to witness the glorious sunrise. With no one around, it was so peaceful and soothing !
We enjoyed a without any plans
Stay at Mae Terra allowed us to slow down and spend a peaceful day amidst nature and scenic vistas. Sometimes, not having any plans or itineraries is therapeutic. It gives you time to observe and soak in the beauty around you.
Pricing
Per Night charges for the Villa are between Rs. 25,000 + taxes (during off-season) & Rs. 35,000 + taxes (During Season) for up to 10 guests. The price includes complimentary breakfast, Bonfire, Music & Entertainment, Movie watching under the stars, BBQ grill for self-use, indoor & outdoor games, basic décor for special occasions, extra beddings, and special dining experiences. An absolute value-for-money deal when you are traveling with a bigger group.
