Picture of 3 Towers connected with a big boat like structure on the top, can be seen almost in all the souvenirs and pictures of Singapore.

Marina bay sands is not only an iconic building or luxury hotel complex, but a world in itself. During our visit to Singapore last year, we could not visit this amazing place, as we were running short of time. Given the overwhelming choice of attractions that Singapore has to offer, it’s almost impossible to cover everything in one visit.
Being our first visit to Singapore last year, our itinerary included the most popular attractions that the city has to offer.Check out the link to know more 10 Best Family friendly attractions in Singapore – City Guide.
This time we decided to explore rather than rushing from one spot to another and in our quest to do so we spend a whole day at Marina bay Sands complex. Before this, we never knew that this place has so much to keep you engaged, specially for kids.
Sharing our 1 day itinerary along with kids friendly activities which can be equally enjoyed by entire family.
How to reach Marina Bay Sands– You can reach Marina Bay Sands by take taxi , Bus or MRT.
We opted for MRT ( as it’s the most popular and fastest mode) only one thing to remember is to take train till Bay Front station and not the Marina Bay. We got confused by the name and reached Marina Bay but had to walk back to Bayfront station as its right next to the Hotel.

Art & Science Museum
Art & Science Museum is like no other Museum that we had seen before. While finalising the itinerary, I read some good reviews about it and it dint disappointed us at all, rather it amazed us.

This distinctive Lotus shaped building houses 2 permanent exhibitions – Future world: where art meets Science and Minimalism: Space .Light .Object
If you are travelling with young kids, I would recommend to visit Future world: where art meets Science only. This amazing digital museum with cutting edge interactive technology will not only engage your child but also mesmerize adults. We experienced something like this for the first time and were awestruck. The downside was it was just impossible to pull our kid, (who was so engrossed) out of the museum. I will share more detailed insights about this section of the Museum in my next blog.

Minimalism: Space. Light. Object, is more of an art gallery which displays artworks from across the world, with minimalism as philosophy. We couldn’t visit this part of the museum.
Timings: 10 am to 7 pm (last entry at 5.30 pm.)
Entry fee: different options are available depending upon what you want to see
Tips :
It will take around 1 to 1.5 hour to visit the museum.
Before purchasing the tickets, opt for Sands reward program to avail the discount.

Lunch at one of the many restaurants
After spending around 2 hours at the museum, we were really hungry and it was time for lunch. There are many restaurants in the Marina bay sands mall including the celebrity chef restaurants to satisfy your gastronomic desires. The food court area of the mall itself is quite big with variety of offerings. We chose an Italian restaurant Da Paolo Gastronomia for our lunch. Food was great and service was quick. We loved the place so much that visited it again for the dinner the next day.

Explore the Shoppes Mall
Post lunch, it was time to explore The Shoppes mall. Marina bay Sands houses most of the luxury and hi end brands of the world.Be it Gucci, Cartier, Hermes, Burberry, Coach and the list goes on and on. There is a huge Louis Vuitton outlet right on the edge of the waters which you must checkout. Although we couldn’t afford to buy them it was good to window shop at least 😉
For kids, mall offers a digital interactive canvas where the interplay of visuals, music and lights create a magical effect and keeps children engaged. If you are too tired of walking around you can also relax there.
Timings: 10.30 a.m. to 11 p.m

Sampan Rides ( luxurious boat ride) at the mall – The shoppes is not only about hi-end stores and restaurants, It also has manmade canals which runs through its premises and offers picturesque boat rides. You can opt for a boat ride to relax and get a feel of Venice. Specially it’s a good activity to engage children and have a look around the lower floor of the mall.
Timings: weekdays: 11.30 a.m to 9 pm
Friday & Saturday : 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Tickets : 10 S$ per person

Watch Sunset from Helix bridge – by the time we finished exploring the mall, our little one slept and we sat by the water-bed outside the Museum. The sit out area between the museum and mall offers a great view of Singapore skyline and their glistening lights reflecting against the water. You can walk around and witness an amazing view of sunset from the Helix bridge. It’s a great spot to capture some really cool pictures too.

Enjoy great view from Sands Sky-park observation deck – Who wouldn’t want to be on the top of the world and enjoy the great view. Since we missed it last time, visiting the Skypark observation deck was on top of our list this year. After enjoying the Sunset, we shifted to the main hotel building, You can reach Skypark observation deck from Tower 3. Needless to say the view from 56th floor of Marina Bay Sands is incredible and unforgettable. We enjoyed the 360 degree panoramic view of the Singapore skyline along with the special light and sound show.
This is something which one should not miss out for sure. At the deck there is a small outlet offering ice creams and cold drinks to keep kids engaged.
Timings: Monday to Thursday -9.30 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Friday ,Saturday & Sunday – 9.30 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Tickets: 23 S$ for Adults , 17 $ for Child (2 -12 years), 20 $ Senior Citizen (above 65 years)
Tips : Sands park rewards card you can get discount.

Enjoy your Drinks at Ce la vi restaurant & Sky bar –After a tiring but fun-filled day , we surely deserved a drink ,specially when the view and atmosphere was so cool. Best part, kids were allowed too. So we enjoyed our drinks along with Snacks at this happening Skybar. Although prices are on the higher side. But it’s surely worth an experience.

Witness mesmerizing Spectra – light & water show – If you still have some energies left or just want to enjoy the surroundings further, you can witness the last light and water show from the open amphitheatre (sit out area)of the mall. This amazing Light & water show is free of cost and is worth witnessing.
Timings: 8 pm-8.15 p.m
9 pm -9.15 p.m.
To sum it up, our day at Marina Bay sands was full of new and of course pleasant experiences. All of us including our little one had a great time.

Some tips
- Sands Rewards card – Do opt for Sands rewards membership program (its free of cost), this will help you to earn discount for Museum entry and Skypark observation deck, also at restaurants. To get the reward card you can check at the counter or check in Marina bay sands website.
- Do carry your water bottle– this can save you some bucks and will also help environment. You can find water refill stations, at multiple places in the mall.
