This tropical paradise in Malaysia, known for its pristine beaches, lush green hills, and vibrant culture, is perfect whether you’re planning a relaxed getaway or an adventurous holiday. And yes, it’s also a honeymooner’s paradise!
We spent 4 days and 3 nights in Langkawi in the month of March. During our stay, we could cover most of the attractions that this spectacular island has to offer. In this blog, I have compiled all the necessary information, along with a comprehensive three-day itinerary for Langkawi. I hope this helps you with the smooth planning of your trip.

A perfect guide to Langkawi
Where Exactly is Langkawi?
Nicknamed the “Jewel of Kedah,” Langkawi is an archipelago of 99 islands off the coast of Malaysia. It’s laid-back, naturally beautiful, and still not overly commercialized, which makes it a perfect getaway for a relaxed vacation.
How to Reach Langkawi
The easiest way to get to Langkawi is by flight. You’ll find plenty of connecting flights via Kuala Lumpur, which is well connected to most international airports.
Best Time to Visit
Being a tropical paradise, Langkawi has a warm climate around the year. However, it’s best to plan your trip during the dry season between November to April. During this time you can enjoy all the water activities and pleasant evenings at the beaches.
Visiting Langkawi during Ramadan Season
We visited Langkawi in March, which also happened to be during Ramadan. Shops and attractions close a bit early, and the it was extremely hot. But thankfully there were no rains or storms. Also, the island was less crowded offering a tranquil experience.”
The worst months as suggested by locals are from May to October when rains are accompanied by thunderstorms.

Where to Stay in Langkawi
From world-class luxury resorts to budget-friendly hotels, Langkawi offers a variety of stay options. However, it’s important to choose the right area depending on your priorities and travel preferences. Here are some of the popular areas in Langkawi and their accessibility.
- Pantai Cenang: The liveliest and happening area in Langkawi, Pantai Cenang is the hub for water sports and other fun activities. The area also boasts several restaurants, beachfront bars, shops and hotels. If you like places bustling with action, Staying in and around Pantai Cenang is a good option.
- Tanjung Rhu: If a secluded & serene getaway is your thing, then Tanjung Rhu is the perfect area to stay. Far from major tourist spots, Tanjung Rhu offers stunning vistas and a selection of luxury resorts to choose from. Tanjung Rhu is also a getaway to the mangrove forest.
- Pantai Tengah: Situated near Pantai Cenang, Pantai Tengah is comparatively more relaxed and peaceful.
- Kuah Town: Cultural & commercial center of Langkawi, this area offers affordable accommodations, shopping malls for duty-free shopping and night markets to explore local cuisine.
- Kedah / Pantai Kok: Situated near Langkawi Bridge, this area is closer to the airport and the major attractions. We stayed at the Berjaya resort Langkawi, which was within walking distance from Langkawi Skybridge and other attractions. This waterfront resort offers pristine beach access, entertainment and cottages situated inside the dense rainforest.

Getting Around Langkawi
Public transport is limited, so the best way to explore is by renting a bike or car. If you don’t like to drive, you can download the “Grab” app to book cabs.
Super convenient!
Best 3 days itinerary for Langkawi
3-4 Days are enough to explore the major attractions in Langkawi. Here is a 3 day perfect itinerary to spend the best time in Langkawi. This itinerary is planned area-wise so you can cover a maximum number of attractions without travelling much. However, feel free to stretch this itinerary to 4 days or remove certain attractions, if you are looking for a more relaxed experience.
Day 1 – Explore Langkawi Sky Bridge & Around

Start your day by visiting the most popular attraction in Langkawi. The Langkawi sky bridge offers a stunning panoramic view of the island, the rainforest and the turquoise blue ocean.
The best part is you can find all the major attractions at the oriental village which is a perfect place for local article shopping and trying out eateries.
To reach the sky bridge you need to take the sky cab cable car. Riding in a cable car is a thrilling experience. As the cable car makes its way to the top, one can witness the breathtaking vistas. Lunch at Kashmir restaurant at Oriental Village
One thing in Langkawi that didn’t strike a chord with me was food. Being a vegetarian, I struggled to find vegetarian food at our resort or any restaurant nearby. However, Kashmir restaurant in Oriental Village offered delicious Indian cuisine with a variety of veg and non-vegetarian options. If you like Indian/ Pakistani cuisine, you can stop by Kashmir restaurant. Else you can try other restaurants in the same area.

Most of the men in our group got extremely bored.

Dataran Lang Square
A majestic 12-meter-tall Eagle statue celebrates the symbol of Langkawi. Situated in the Southern region of Pulau, Langkawi, this iconic spot is a must-see for visitors.
