One of the most popular picnic/day outing spots in Bengaluru, Bannerghatta National Park is home to wild animals like tigers, lions, elephants, and reptiles. Spread over 781 Ha, Bannerghatta Biological Park has many sections including a Zoo, Safari and Butterfly park. Witnessing wild animals here is a thrilling adventure for the whole family, especially kids. To visit all the 3 sections of the park, you must start early in the morning. However, if you are on a time crunch, you may visit just one or two sections too. If you are planning to take a safari, do book your slot in advance as they have limited slots available. The park offers a range of safari options, from private tours to bus safaris. Don’t forget to pack your camera for this unforgettable wildlife experience!

Step into a world of colour butterflies at Butterfly Park. A part of the Bannerghatta Biological Park, the butterfly park houses up to 48 species of butterflies in various seasons. The entire park is spread over an area of 7.5 acres consisting of the butterfly garden, and butterfly trail leading to the huge transparent dome-roofed conservatory. Inside this conservatory, you can find trees, a waterfall, a bridge, flowers and of course numerous butterflies. I am sure both kids and adults will be thrilled spotting different species and learning about their life cycles. The butterfly park also has a museum and multimedia room for more information on these beautiful creatures.

Bangalore boasts numerous parks and gardens, but Indira Gandhi Musical Fountain Park stands out. As the name suggests, This park is famous for its spectacular musical fountain show. This is the first park in the country with a computerized musical fountain. Situated on T. Chowdaiah Road next to Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium, the park attracts many visitors. Apart from the colourful musical fountain show, the park has tree-lined boulevards, a kid’s play area, and defence exhibits at the National Military Memorial. It’s a perfect place to spend a fun evening with family.

The Iconic Jawaharlal Nehru planetarium is one of the most popular and intriguing attractions amongst the kids. The Planetarium complex houses a science park, exhibition hall and sky theatre. Shows at the Sky Theatre are the most intriguing and sought-after experience. The Sky Theatre is a hemispherical dome-shaped, air-conditioned theatre with over 200 reclining seats. The sky theatre showcases 3 different shows, Our Solar System, Celestial Firework and the Dawn of Space Age. Do check the show timings and book in advance.

 The exhibition hall exhibits several thematic and informative exhibits including real celestial objects like asteroids. Outside the Planetarium building is a sprawling science park with over 40 scientific exhibits. These interactive exhibits help kids learn various aspects of science in a fun way.

5. CURIOUSCITY Science Centre

I visited the Curiouscity with my kid and mother, i was not sure if my mother would enjoy it, But there are so many easy , fun and simple activities that everyone can find something to enjoy here.

One place where your child and you both can get ample fun & physical activity is the Sky Jumper Trampoline park! This indoor trampoline park inside the Garuda Mall has more than 100 interconnected trampolines making it a perfect place for kids and adults to bounce and burn off some energy. With activities like dodgeball, slam dunk zones, laser tag and teens disco always it’s non-stop fun at Sky Jumper. I celebrated my kids birthday here (they have birthday celebration packages), all the kids thoroughly enjoyed, the best part was its an enclosed space so we dont have to worry about kids safety.

9. Bal Bhavan, Cubbon Park

Although it’s fun to visit any part of Cubbon Park, Bal Bhavan is especially heaven for kids.  The main attraction of this park is the iconic toy train, Putani Express, which ferries both kids and adults around the park. This joy ride lasts for 6-7 minutes.  Another major attraction at the park is boating. Along with these 2, the park has many rides, play areas and open spaces for kids to roam freely. Bal Bhavan is a perfect fun getaway/ picnic spot for the whole family.

10. Namma Bengaluru Aquarium

Explore the colourful aquatic world at the recently renovated Bangalore Aquarium. Although small, the aquarium is good enough to keep the kids engaged. The aquarium houses a variety of small and colourful fishes. They also have a water tunnel, although we could not spot many fish there. The upper section of the aquarium has some very brightly coloured and cute fishes which we loved watching. You can combine visiting the aquarium with Bal Bhavan.
